Cumberland Chapels joined the Pinnacle family of firms in December 2020, adding another important Illinois location. The Lupo family founded the funeral home in 1985 and have operated it successfully for 35 years. They and many of their staff members are well known in the community. Their long history — and their more recent desire for a succession plan — resulted in a good fit for the Lupos.

“The attention they shown to the facility and, more importantly, the many families they assisted, has created a strong image of compassion and service to others,” Pinnacle CFO Melissa Howsare said. “That’s the kind of reputation and good will I’m especially interested in building on.”

There will be a continuation of Cumberland's family-first approach, and the only operational changes will come from adopting some of Pinnacle’s processes and efficiencies. “Families will immediately recognize the excellence in service they’ve come to expect,” Haarer said.
